Denver is not just a sports town - the area's cultural attractions are also a hot ticket. In the days of the "wild, wild west", Denver earned a reputation as the place to be for cultural entertainment, a reputation that continues today.

Whether you prefer ballet, theater, or concert renditions of classical pieces by Mozart and Bach, metro Denver has something to satisfy everyone.

The children enjoy dramatic performances from local children's performance troupes. The Colorado Children's Chorale is a popular singing troupe training children in vocal arts. Kids have their own museum too, full of hours of fun and exciting things to do and explore. Local libraries offer story hour and the Denver Puppet Theatre is a fun place to take a break from the everyday.

Through local school districts, older children and youth enjoy active programs such as drama, band, orchestra, choir and art shows full of student works. Community opportunities are abundant including the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra and multitudes of dance and drama troupes.

Adults in the Mile High City appreciate the excellent caliber of professional talent at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Ballet, theatre, symphony, orchestra, and opera are all enjoyed in Denver.
The whole family will enjoy the variety of museums and galleries, and the Denver Zoo! Colorado's Ocean Journey will be a special experience, too. Don't forget the Botanic Gardens for a special springtime stroll!

Top-notch museums like the Denver Art Museum, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver give the state plenty of visual-arts cred. And large arts-and-crafts festivals like The Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver and the Estes Park Fine Arts and Crafts Festival lure thousands to the area, and it seems as if nearly every Colorado town has a summer showcase for local artists, as well as weekly art walks through districts filled with art galleries.

The sprawling Denver Performing Arts Complex is the second-largest arts campus of its kind in the nation, and it’s home to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Opera Colorado, Denver Center Theater Company and the Colorado Ballet — the region’s largest and most impressive resident performing arts organizations.

Renowned performing art events like The Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder, the Aspen Music Festival, the Vail International Dance Festival, Boulder’s Colorado MahlerFest, the Breckenridge Music Festival and Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs are another aspect of our arts-and-culture prowess. What puts all of these events over the top is their location — Colorado’s gorgeous natural setting makes the best venue of all.

Whatever your artistic sensibility may be, a Colorado vacation offers year-round events, festivals and live music — all in majestic venues second to none.
